Desare Frazier is a general assignment reporter for Mississippi Public Broadcasting, the host of At Issue on Radio and fill-in host for Morning Edition. She is a NPR/Kaiser Health Fellow and covers the Mississippi State legislature. Desare is an Emmy Award winning journalist. She won an Emmy for coverage of Hurricane Katrina when she worked as the 5pm news anchor at WAPT-TV in Jackson. She is also the recipient of 20 Associated Press Awards for her television and radio news reporting. During her time at MPB, she has been honored with several regional Edward R. Morrow awards for feature stories as well as awards from the National Association of Black Journalist for her special reports. Great reporting combined with compelling storytelling are two of Desare’s assets. Desare is a native of Springfield, Massachusetts. She graduated from Syracuse University with a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism from with S.I. Newhouse School of Journalism and has a MA in Political Communication from the State University of New York at Albany.
